What is our purpose?

The Belleville Running Club, informally organized in 2005, was founded with the simple goal of trying to assemble like minded individuals (runners) to share the often mundane task of the “long run”. Over the years, the BRC has developed into something a little more. Although still very informally organized, many of us have formed some pretty good friendships while becoming a civic minded group that promotes and supports running in the Belleville area.

It is the unofficial mission of the group to simply “promote the sport of running in our community”. This has led to the group’s involvement in the Belleville Chili Cookoff, team entries into the annual River to River Relay, participation in the Get Up and Go campaign, and participation in the city’s adopt-a-trail program. Our feedback has led to improvements on the city’s bike trail. We now meet for group runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and we often get together for social gatherings after Thursday night runs. Large groups of members have even travelled to out of town races in Chicago, Memphis, Columbus, etc.

The club has now grown to over 200 members (signed up on our Yahoo group). Our membership ranges from beginning runners training for their first 5K to runners that have completed dozens of marathons.

Can I buy a BRC Shirt?

Well, yes you can! Please review the order form and follow the instructions on the form to place an order.

What are the costs for membership?

Aside from aching legs and lungs, BRC membership is absolutely free.
